A steady group of female entrepreneurs in fashion continues to land on Forbes' annual list of the "World's Most Powerful Women."
Not only do these fashion figures have their names slapped across their respective, eponymous lines - brands that are coveted by throngs of women worldwide - but they also serve as role models to countless followers.
There's Valley Forge native and Penn grad Tory Burch, for example, who also landed on Forbes' Billionaires List in 2012. Burch's line of flats, bags and tunics has become somewhat of a uniform for a range of devotees: From the "ladies who lunch" to the career girls jetting down Market to get to their next destination. The business-savvy fashion figure has certainly positioned herself within the realm of retail - to rule.
J.Crew Creative Director Jenna Lyons, who's garnered quite the preppy posse herself, was named one of the "Most Powerful Women to Watch in 2014" alongside the likes of Chelsea Clinton, though neither made Forbes' cut in 2013. The publication, however, calls her "mass-fashion's darling" with "over $2.2 billion in cash register receipts and fans as high profile as the First Lady," adding that she is one to closely follow this next year.
