American Apparel isn't shy about causing a stir in the fashion industry. The L.A. based, American made clothing company is known for its risqué advertisements and reportedly pervy founder and CEO, Dov Charney.

On Thursday morning, an American Apparel window display on East Houston Street in New York City caused passersby to stop in their tracks. It wasn't the see-through lingerie that was shocking; it was the pubic hair. In an effort to "celebrate natural beauty" for Valentine's Day, the store let it all out for the public.

The display, created specifically for the Houston St. store, is making a feminist statement and the company is hoping it charges up conversations about what we, the people, think is "sexy."

"This is the same idea behind our advertisements which avoid many of the photoshopped and airbrushed standards of the fashion industry," said AA's director of marketing Ryan Holiday. "So far we have received positive feedback from those that have commented and we're looking forward to hearing more points of view."

Here are some mixed reactions:

American Apparel have started putting nipples and pubes on their manakins. Right. Too far lads.
I love American Apparel and everything they stand for.

We applaud American Apparel for being so ballsy, but we also know it's a really strategic PR move. According to the Washington Post, "More than 3,500 tweets mentioned 'American Apparel' over the last 24 hours — the biggest spike the company has seen since October."
