Hosted by Hugh Jackman, the 68th Annual Tony Awards came out swinging with an opening fight courtesy of the 'Rocky' musical which took home Best Scenic Design of a Musical.

'How I Met Your Mother' actor Neil Patrick Harris won big as leading actor in a musical for his performance in 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch,' and Bryan Cranston took home the award for leading actor in a play for 'All the Way' which also won best play.

Actors and actresses also won big on the red carpet.

Sutton Foster popped in a fuchsia Reem Acra ball gown. The neckline and belt detail make an otherwise simple silhouette extraordinary. She carried a clutch and wore jewelry by Fred Leighton.

Lucy Liu looked elegantly interesting in a black Vivienne Westwood gown with a structured, cream neckline. Her hair, pulled back and teased at the top gave a modern twist to a sophisticated look and understated Lorraine Schwartz jewelry let the dress be the star.

Leighton Meester was Old Hollywood chic in a fitted, ivory, cap sleeve Antonio Berardi gown. Side swept waves and barrel curls played up the dramatic effect while her understated makeup and dress shade added an updated, minimalist twist.

Also channeling Old Hollywood was actress, Patricia Clarkson, in a sleek red, waist-accentuating gown by Dolce and Gabbana. Her hair and makeup perfectly compliment the look.

Hometown hero Questlove stayed his ultra-cool self at the Tony Awards with his signature heart pin and laid-back, black and white sneakers. The Roots drummer played for what's being called the first rap song on the Tony Awards.

Wayne Brady stood out among a sea of black and white tuxedos with a tailored, navy blue look. A black shirt, tie, shoes and lapel details result in a daring, successful pairing of neutrals.

'After Midnight' headliner and former American Idol Fantasia Barrino sparkled in a turquoise, floor-length mermaid style gown. With a deep-V neckline, high slit and neutral make the star was ultra sultry on the red carpet before her performance wardrobe switch.

Andy Karl of the 'Rocky' musical knocked out the competition in an all black ensemble. A quirky, polka-dotted tie and textured dress shirt subtly spice up the look.

Vera Farmiga looked stunning in a sleek Stella McCartney gown. Sheer paneling and a fit-and-flare silhouette accentuated Farmiga's figure. A curly, side-swept bob, black clutch and multi-colored Fred Leighton bracelet took the look, which was a crowd favorite, over the top.

Lena Hall made a black dress one of the most interesting things on the red carpet with a structurally stunning Zac Posen gown with cape detail and waist-cinching paneling. With a bright red lip and little else, Hall's makeup mirrored that of the runway model.
