Temple's Tara Murphy Picks Up A-10 Weekly Honors

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Atlantic 10 Conference has recognized redshurt junior goalkeeper Tara Murphy for her effort in net during Temple's final weekend of the season. After helping the Owls go undefeated and unscored upon in the team's final two games, Murphy has been selected as one of the conference's Co-Players of the Week. She shares this week's award with Dayton's Colleen Williams.

Murphy stood perfect in goal in games against Duquesne and St. Bonaventure, as she pitched shutouts in both contests. .

The Holland, Pa. native combinined for 12 saves in the two clean sheet efforts. Murphy notched shutout Nos. 4 and 5 of the season. The fifth shutout by Murphy gave Temple its most in a season since 1995. 

Murphy is the first Temple women's soccer player to pick up an A-10 Player of the Week award in two seasons. Senior Niki Conn was the last to do it when she was recognized with the award back on Sept. 14, 2009.
