Box Score PHILADELPHIA – La Salle freshman Kelsey Haycook beat redshirt junior goalkeeper Tara Murphy three times to complete a hat trick. Haycook tallied goals in the seventh, 19th and 51st minutes before senior Morgan Golden scored in the 62nd. Sophomore Renee Washington capped the 5-0 defeat with her goal in the 64th minute. Junior Jourdan Brill put La Salle's nine-game shutout streak in jeopardy less than two minutes in the contest when she blasted a shot from 25 yards out right on Explorers' goalkeeper Melissa Sanger. Temple had strong offensive possession to open the second half with hopes of cutting into La Salle's 2-0 halftime advantage. Junior Kate Yurkovic nearly cut the deficit in half when she ripped a shot from 20 yards out up the middle, but went high and over the net. Yurkovic gave the Explorers a scare in the final minute of the game when she also had a chance of breaking the La Salle shutout streak, but again went high. The Owls (3-7-0, 0-1-0) head to the Bronx, N.Y., where they'll return to action on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. when they take on the Fordham Rams in another A-10 Conference match. |
