EASTON, Pa. - Two goals in the final 15 minutes were not enough for the Temple field hockey team to catch Lafayette (1-2) as the Leopards defeated the Owls 4-2 on Friday night. Temple (1-4) will return home on Sunday, Sept. 11 to play Kent State at 1:00 p.m.

Lafayette got its offense going early, scoring twice in the first seven minutes. Deanna DiCroce, who had scored on a penalty corner in the eighth minute, scored her second goal of the game on a corner a few minutes before halftime to give the Leopards a 3-0 lead.

In the 47th minute, Lafayette's Emily Valeo gave her team a 4-0 lead on an unassisted goal.

With 15 minutes remaining, the Owls got on the scoreboard when Bridget Settles took a pass from Amber Youtz and beat Lafayette goalkeeper Mara Kish between the legs. Molly Doyle put a second goal in five minutes later when she put in a rebounded shot off the post, but it was all Temple could get.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lizzy Millen made nine saves for the Owls, who were out-shot 15-9 by Lafayette.
