PHILADELPHIA – Six players scored in double figures in a record-setting, 89-36 win for Temple women’s basketball at George Washington. The Owls (20-6, 11-0) won their 13th straight game by the largest margin in the history of the program, remained undefeated in the Atlantic 10 and reached 20 wins for the eighth straight season.

Qwedia Wallace led the Owls with 18 points and Shey Peddy scored 16 along with dishing a game-high nine assists. Kristen McCarthy scored 14 points as did Victoria Macaulay, and BJ Williams finished with 11.

Dani Jackson was the lone double-figure scorer for the Colonials (8-17, 3-8) with 10 points.

George Washington scored the first basket of the game on its first possession, but it would be the Colonials’ last for nearly a 10-minute stretch.

Temple put on a performance at both ends of the court, scoring 28 unanswered points while forcing 11 turnovers. By the end of the first half, the Colonials committed 18 turnovers off which the Owls scored 30 points.

The Owls’ first 30-point lead was on an old-fashioned three-point play by Peddy near the eight-minute mark, putting Temple up 38-8. George Washington kept pace the rest of the way but the Owls never slowed down. Peddy led all players with 14 points as Temple took a 52-22 lead into halftime.

Temple shot 50 percent from the field in the first half and made seven three-pointers en route to its season-best 52 points.

The Owls started the second half on a 16-4 run including nine points from McCarthy. Macaulay reached double figures early in the half and put Temple up by 40, 70-30 with a layup at the 13-minute mark.

Five Owls had scored in double digits with nine minutes left in the game, and Williams became the sixth on a layup at the six-minute mark which put Temple up 85-32.

Temple will be back on the court in a televised game this Saturday, Feb. 19, taking on Dayton at 5:00 p.m. The contest will be shown live on CBS College Sports.
