PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s junior midfielder Mo Hawkins (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Women’s Divisions I All-Mid-Atlantic Second Team, organization officials announced this week. Hawkins, who was chosen 2012 Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year and an A-10 All-Conference First Team selection, is the first Hawk to garner multiple All-Region honors.
Leading the Hawks offense for the third consecutive year, Hawkins paced SJU with a team-best 19 points and eight goals and added three assists. Currently third in SJU history in points (61) and goals (25), the 2011 NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic First Team honoree became just the second player in conference history to earn consecutive A-10 Midfielder of the Year honors and is the only SJU player to ever garner All-Conference honors three times.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Helping the Saint Joseph’s women’s soccer team to its first berth in the Atlantic 10 Championship since 2005, a trio of Hawks garnered conference honors, A-10 officials announced on Wednesday. For the second straight season, junior Mo Hawkins (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) was chosen Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year in a vote of the league’s coaches, and joined senior goalkeeper Christine Neal (Hockessin, Del./Alexis I Du Pont) on the A-10 All-Conference First Team. Additionally, freshman Olivia McEachern (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team.
“We are thrilled that Mo, Christine and Olivia were recognized and are proud of everything they have done to help our team succeed,” said head coach Jess Reynolds.

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team is postseason bound after downing Fordham, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Finnesey Field. Backed by a goal in the 53rd minute by junior Mo Hawkins and the seventh shutout of the season from senior goalkeeper Christine Neal, the Hawks are headed to the Atlantic 10 Championship for the first time since 2005.
With both teams needing a win to secure a postseason spot, the two squads played timid in the opening half as SJU held a 6-4 edge in shots. Neal made a pair of saves during the stretch to keep the game scoreless.

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team dropped a heart-breaking double overtime contest to La Salle, 1-0, Friday evening at Finnesey Field. The Hawks' senior goalkeeper Christine Neal set the SJU all-time record for career saves (292) in a game-high seven save effort.
In a thrilling match in which Saint Joseph's defense played stellar through out, both squads had prime scoring chances, but could not convert.

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team got goals from freshman Olivia McEachern and sophomore McHale Perkins and senior goalkeeper Christine Neal made six saves as the Hawks blanked Rhode Island, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at Finnesey Field.
Saint Joseph's (8-5-2, 3-1-1 Atlantic 10) opened the scoring in the 35th minute on McEachern's first collegiate goal. Junior midfielder Mo Hawkins sent a perfectly timed pass up the middle of the Rhode Island zone, allowing McEachern an opportunity for a breakaway. The Hawks' rookie drilled a shot low past the Rhode Island kicker at 34:13 to give her team the lead.

PHILADELPHIA - Playing at home for the first time since September 14, the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team put its home field advantage to use on Friday evening, downing Massachusetts, 2-1, at Finnesey Field. The Hawks got goals from junior Mo Hawkins and sophomore Kersten Formento to improve to 7-5-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the Atlantic 10.
The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute as Hawkins tallied her team-leading sixth goal of the season. With the ball in the Minutewomen's zone, senior Taylor Mallory worked the ball to junior Morgan Duffy in the middle of the field. Duffy took the pass and quickly found Hawkins at the top of the box, allowing the SJU midfielder the opportunity to drill a shot to the upper left hand corner to make it 1-0 at 33:50.

PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph’s women’s soccer team dropped a heart-breaking 1-0 contest to Iona Sunday afternoon at Finnesey Field as the visiting Gaels tallied the game-winning goal with under a minute to play.
With the chance of overtime creeping in, Iona took advantage of its final attack to score the deciding goal. With the ball deep down the right line of Saint Joseph’s zone, a pass was sent into the Hawks’ box. On the ensuing bounce, the ball got away from SJU’s goalkeeper, allowing Iona’s Samantha Fiorenzo to grab the loose ball.

PHILADELPHIA – Starting the season with a 2-0-1 record, the Saint Joseph’s women’s soccer team was recognized for their strong start with a ninth-place ranking in this week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America Mid-Atlantic Poll.
Coming off a season-opening draw against American on Augusts 19, the Hawks followed that with two wins this past weekend. Led by a pair of goals from junior Mo Hawkins (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) and a shutout from senior goalkeeper Christine Neal (Hockessin, Del/Alexis I Du Pont), Saint Joseph’s picked up its first win of the year with a 3-0 victory over Binghamton on Friday. On Sunday, the Hawks earned a comeback win over local rival Villanova as senior Ali Yozwiak (Brodheadsville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) tied the game and an own goal off a Wildcat defender late helped SJU to a 2-1 victory.

PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s senior goalkeeper Christine Neal (Hockessin, Del./Alexis I Du Pont) made three saves and junior midfielder Mo Hawkins (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) scored twice as the Hawks’ women’s soccer team earned its first victory of the season, 3-0, over Binghamton Friday evening at Finnesey Field.
Controlling the pace from the start, Saint Joseph’s took the lead in the 15th minute on Hawkins’ first goal of the year. With the ball deep in Binghamton’s zone, junior Nicole King (Cincinnati, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy) centered a pass from the right side into the middle of the box where Hawkins connected with a header into an open net at 14:13.

PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s sophomore midfielder Mo Hawkins (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) made team history on Friday, becoming the first Hawk to garner National Soccer Coaches Association of America Women’s Divisions I All-Mid-Atlantic First Team accolades.
Making the move from forward to the midfield this year, Hawkins thrived leading Saint Joseph’s attack as she topped the team in points (21), tied for the lead in goals (nine) and finished second in assists (three). Earning both Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year and All-Conference First Team honors this season, Hawkins has already etched her name in the SJU record book as she’ll enter her junior year next year fifth all-time in points (42), tied for fifth in goals (17) and tied for 10th in assists (eight). The Philadelphia native has also earned All-Conference honors two straight years, coming off A-10 All-Conference Second Team and All-Rookie Team honors in 2010.
