PHILADELPHIA - Coming off a career-high 27 points in Saint Joseph’s win at Penn on Saturday, redshirt senior Chatilla van Grinsven was named Philadelphia Big 5 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, organization officials announced on Monday.
Playing arguably her best game as a Hawk, the starting forward was dominant against the Quakers, knocking down 12-of-20 from the floor, and 3-of-4 from the foul line, to set a new career-high in scoring. Additionally, van Grinsven posted a game-high 15 rebounds, including five at the offensive end, to go with two assists, two steals and a blocked shot. Finishing with four points and three rebounds at #17/18 UCLA on Monday after playing with a stomach virus, van Grinsven earned her third Big 5 weekly award after averaging 15.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game as the Hawks went 1-1 in their two games.
The Hawks open Atlantic 10 play this Saturday, January 12 as the Hawks face Richmond at 2 p.m.
