PHILADELPHIA – Leading Saint Joseph’s women’s basketball team to a pair of wins last week, junior guard Ashley Prim (Ansonia, Conn./Kolbe Cathedral) was recognized as the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, organization officials announced on Monday.
Averaging 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest last week, Prim spearheaded the Hawks’ 57-53 win at La Salle last Wednesday, matching her career-high with 18 points. The starting point guard knocked down a career-best four three-point field goals and finished 5-of-7 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the foul line in helping her squad improve to 2-1 in the Philadelphia Big 5. Prim followed with a game-high six assists to go with 11 points and six rebounds in Saint Joseph’s 69-50 victory over Saint Louis on Sunday.
For the year, Prim is averaging a career-best 9.6 points per game and leads the Hawks in assists (81) and steals (33).
Prim and Saint Joseph’s (16-8) return to action this Wednesday when they host Rhode Island at 7 p.m.
