Saint Joseph's Casey Robinson Wins Sinlges and Doubles Titles at 14th Annual Pennsylvania State Tennis Championships

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's Casey Robinson continued to have a stellar summer as the junior women's tennis player claimed both the singles and doubles titles at the 14th Annual Pennsylvania State Tennis Championships at Aronimink Golf Club.

Playing the week of August 7-13, Robinson advanced through the 32-player field in the open singles draw to claim the individual title. Robinson opened play with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Serenity Lash, before posting a hard-fought 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 victory over second seed Tessa Lyons of the University of North Carolina.

In the semifinals, Robinson earned the win as her opponent, Jennifer Newman, was forced to withdraw from the competition. Facing top-seeded Veronica Corning of Boston College in the title match, Robinson took the first set, 7-5, then closed out the match with a 6-3 win in the second set to claim the singles championship.

On the doubles side, Robinson and Corning were seeded as the top team in the six-squad tournament. In their opening match, the duo needed three sets to top Andrea Lawrence and Ashlee Vosters. Robinson and Corning moved on to the title match with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-5 victory.

Facing the second-seeded team of Ioulia Bolotova and Daniela Depaoli, Robinson and Corning made quick work of their opponents, 6-4, 6-1, to earn the doubles title.

Robinson and the Hawks open play September 16 at the Towson 4+1 Classic.
