NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Saint Joseph's sophomore hurler Kyle Mullen (Berwyn, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) was chosen as the Atlantic 10 Baseball Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon. It is Mullen's second such honor of the season.

Mullen struck out seven batters in eight innings on Friday as SJU started its weekend sweep of Temple with a 4-1 victory. He allowed just the one run on only four hits, issuing a single walk. It was the eighth quality start for the righthander in 13 tries this season.

With his eight innings of work this weekend, Mullen has thrown 83.1 innings for the year, placing him 10th on the program's all-time list for innings pitched in a single season.

Mullen was previously chosen as the Atlantic 10 and Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Pitcher of the Week on March 28 after a complete game shutout of defending league champion Saint Louis on March 25.

Saint Joseph's will close out the regular season this week with a contest at La Salle before a three-game set against Richmond at Campbell's Field.
