AMBLER, Pa. - Sophomore Mike Johnson (Ambler, PA / Hatboro-Horsham) shot a one-over 72 and sits in second place in the field of 64 players at the first-ever La Salle Invitational, which began on Sunday at Talamore Country Club. The Explorers are in third place, six shots behind Fordham, with 18 holes remaining. Play begins at 10 AM on Monday.

Johnson only hit five greens but scored well thanks to his chipping and putting. A member at Talamore, Johnson used his home course advantage to his benefit and trails only Fordham's Jason Del Rosso, who shot a one-under 70.

Sophomore Tyler Fewell was one-shot behind Johnson and is in fourth place with his 73 (+1). Senior Randy Kurzinsky rallied from a tough front nine to shoot 35 on the back on his way to a 77 (+6). He is tied for 14th place.

Senior Ed Carnes and freshman Greg Goodreds each shot 84s (+13) and are in tie for 40th place. Sophomore Chris Costantino competed as an individual and shot an 85 (+14).

As a team, La Salle shot a 306 (+22). Fordham carded a 300 followed by Iona at 303. Hofstra (311) and Niagara (321) round out the top five.
