NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Coming off a strong weekend at the Penn Invitational, the Drexel men's tennis team got back to work on Friday at the Hampton Roads Invitational, putting up a solid showing in doubles. Jeganathan Srinivasan and Dan Hansen won Doubles Flight Two, while the Dragons also took second and third in Doubles Flight One. In singles, Dan Koehler won Flight Two singles, defeating two Delaware players en route to the title.

Srinivasan and Hansen defeated teams from Howard, Loyola and Delaware en route to their championship. In the first round, they rolled through Howard's pair, 8-1. They then took care of business against Loyola to the tune of an 8-4 match, and finished the deal with an 8-6 defeat of Delaware. The Drexel duo is now 8-1 on the seasonm having won the Saint Joseph's Invitational and earning a quarterfinal appearance at the Penn Invitational.

Meanwhile, Badr Ouabdelmoumen and Skyler Davis earned second place in Doubles Flight One. They allowed just one point in rolling through Shepard and Delaware on their way to the first-place match, defeating Shepard 8-1 and Delaware 8-0. In the final, however, they ran into a Delaware team that was gaining steam throughout the day, and they fell in a close match, 8-6. On the other side of the bracket, Alex Fioravante and Tyler Pultro won their first round match 8-4 over Loyola before falling in the semifinals. They then won the third-place match by default.

Singles play began on Saturday, with several Dragons faring well. Ouabdelmoumen advanced to the semifinal of Flight One by defeating Spencer Mitchell of Howard, 6-0, 6-0. He then handled Bobby Gorczakowski of Loyola in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 7-5. In the semifinals, Ouabdelmoumen fell to Troy Beneck of Delaware.

Also making it to a flight semifinal were Paul Stauskas and Dan Koehler, who moved on in Flight Two. For Koehler, a first round bye set  up a quarterfinal match with Myron Davis of Howard, which Koehler took care of to the tune of a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Koehler then dispatched Evan Andrew and Mike Furr of Delaware in the semifinals and final to win the title. Stauskas did so by knocking out Zack King of HSC and Alex Sweet of Delaware. He won his first round match 6-2, 6-2, then handled Sweet 6-1, 6-4. In the semifinal, he fell to Delaware's Furr.
