Drexel Field Hockey Posts Third Straight Win at Towson, 3-1

Towson, Md. – No. 20 Drexel Field Hockey topped Towson, 3-1, in its seventh road game of the season. The Dragons earned three goals in the first half and maintained the lead throughout the remainder of the contest. Together, the team drew 12 penalty corners and outshot the Tigers, 18-8. Drexel will enter Sunday's game against No. 15 New Hampshire 8-3 overall and 2-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association. 

Drexel's entire team contributed to the win with action from all eligible players. The starting line-up set the tone in the opening half. With just 10 minutes off the clock, freshman forward Mary Lynam scored her fourth goal of the season to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead.

In the 17th minute, senior captain Amanda Fleischut added another point for Drexel followed by a penalty stroke goal a minute later by teammate Meghan Plank. Fleischut continued to pace the offense with the help of Kristen Focht in the backfield. 

Towson's Ashlea Carl added a goal in the final minute of play. Sophomore goalkeeper Jantien Gunter blocked a stroke in the opening half and made five key saves in the team's third straight victory. She now has 50 stops along with four shutouts. 
The Dragons will return to Buckley Field on September 30 for a 1:00 p.m. game against the 15th-nationally ranked New Hampshire Wildcats. Drexel enters Sunday's game 4-0 at home.
