Drexel Wrestling Wins Season Opener, 25-10, against Franklin and Marshall

Philadelphia - Head Coach Matt Azevedo guides Drexel Wrestling to its first season victory over Franklin and Marshall, 25-10, on Saturday night at the John A. Daskalakis Athletic Center. Drexel won seven of 10 matches handing the Diplomats their fifth straight loss.
 
Senior Michael Gomez took down Franklin and Marshall's David Hershberger, 7-5, at 125 pounds. Junior Frank Cimato was able to earn one more point to gain a 8-7 decision over Richard Durso. Redshirt sophomore Shane Fenningham held 7-4 advantage over Andrew Murano at 149 pounds. Teammate Austin Sommer pinned the Diplomats' Eric Norgard in 5:47. 
 
Junior standout Joseph Booth had a strong showing in the season opener earning a major decision, 12-1, over Adam Schroeder. Franklin and Marshall had two back-to-back decisions at 174 and 184 pounds. Redshirt sophomore Brandon Palik ended the Dilpomats streak edging Colin Ely 4-3 at 197 pounds. Redshirt senior Kyle Frey dominated in the 9-2 decision over Alex Henry.
