Men's Varsity Eight Finishes 14th at the Head of the Charles

Boston, Mass. – The Drexel men's and women's varsity eights faced strong competition at the 2011 Head of the Charles Regatta. The women placed 31st in the championship women's event, while the men finished 14th out of 40 crews.  
The women's eight crossed the finish line at 17:42.97 for 31st place out of 36 boats. The University of Virginia earned first place in the championship women's eight race with a time of 16:11.52 followed by Radcliffe Crew and the University of Michigan respectively. The Marlene Buckley II boat featured coxswain Alexandra Paulin, stroke Sarah Mackenzie, Elizabeth Daugherty, Elizabeth Bratton, Colleen Delaney, Amanda O'Malley, Mallory Sykes, Elizabeth Campanella and bow Alexa Antonioli.
The Lois Krall boat stopped the clock at 15:54.830 for 14th place out of 40 shells. Williams College Boat Club took first place with a time of 15:09.568. University of Virginia Rowing Association finished second followed by Georgia Tech Rowing Club. Drexel's Randall Lee coxed the boat along with stroke Aleksandar Radovic, Vanja Busic, Sebastian Ryan, Lorenzo Albala, Kurt Linton, Michael Golden, Michael Faust, and Matthew Ryan.
The Dragons will return to action on Saturday, October 29 at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta.
