The Drexel women's soccer team was held off the board in a 2-0 shutout at Rider on Sunday afternoon. For the second straight match, the Drexel offense outshot its non-conference opponent, but came up on the wrong side of the scoreboard.
Rider improved to 6-2-1 on the season and posted its third straight shutout. Jennifer Meier scored both goals for the Broncs, both of which came early in the first half. Her first goal came in the games second minute and gave Rider the momentum. Just 12 minutes later Meier beat Drexel keeper Victoria Troccoli once again for her second tally. The loss dropped Drexel to 2-4-2 overall on the season.
The Dragons outshot Rider, 13-10, and had their chances in the contest. Drexel had nine corner kicks, but for the second straight game on the road, just could not get on the board.
Drexel is off until Friday when it returns home to Vidas Field for two matches next weekend. The Dragons open up Colonial Athletic Association play againt Georgia State at 7 p.m. On Sunday, the Dragons host Northeastern.
