Drexel Field Hockey Ranks Second in the Nation for Highest Team GPA
Philadelphia - The Drexel women's field hockey team was recognized as one of the top academic teams in the nation and received a 2010 Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Team Award.

The National Academic Team Award recognizes intercollegiate programs throughout the country that have achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the academic year. Drexel women's field hockey placed above 55 other institutions, and just shy of Northwestern University's top rank with a team GPA of 3.54. Drexel was one of five Colonial Athletic Association programs to earn an academic award.
The Dragons also had 14 players selected to the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad earlier this year. Drexel's Monica Baick, Jennifer Cairone, Elise DiDonato, Kristen Focht, Aria Gillespie, Brittney Hausman, Megan Keller, Mariel Marinelli, Christina Mastropaolo, Katrina McQuiggan, Jenna Phillips, Laura Quenzer, Ashley Santee and Kimberly Tunell earned a GPA of 3.3 or higher for the 2010 fall semester.
