PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore Lauren McDermott led the Explorers with four goals as they defeated Iona, 17-6, on Wednesday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.
With the victory, La Salle improves to 1-1 on the season.
Freshmen Amanda Norcini had a stunning start for the Dragons. In her first colligate competition, Norcini knocked in her first goal and put the Dragons up 1-0 within the first five minutes of the game against the Colonials. The Wayne, Pa. native also tallied three groundballs and three caused turnovers for Drexel.
Philadelphia, Pa. – The Drexel women's lacrosse team opened the 2011 season with a 14-9 victory over George Washington. The Dragons outshot the Colonials 37-23 and had seven different players knock in at least one goal at Mount Vernon Field.
Freshmen Amanda Norcini recorded her first colligate goal and put the Dragons up 1-0 within the first five minutes of play. Drexel continued to put pressure on George Washington's defense and posted three more goals. Drexel's Charlotte Wood had back-to-back scores, along with Kelli Joran's unassisted goal gave Drexel an early 4-0 lead.
PHILADELPHIA - Head lacrosse coach Candace Taglianetti announces that eight high school seniors have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the lacrosse team next fall.
Clarie Andrews, Caitlyn Brostrand, Maddie Collins, Alanna Diffendal, Anastasia Fries, Lauren Ignacio, Lauren Knight and Erin McCabe round out Taglianetti's recruiting class.
