PHILADELPHIA – The 16th-ranked Drexel field hockey team will host a pair of games at Buckley Field this weekend. The Dragons will face Dartmouth on October 4 under the lights at 7:00 p.m. followed by Sunday's game versus Rutgers at 2:00 p.m. Drexel has won its last five contests improving to 7-2 overall.

Friday night marks the 2013 squads' second straight contest against an Ivy League opponent this season. The Dragons and the Dartmouth Big Green haven't met since the ECAC tournament in 2001, when the Dragons fell short by one point, 2-1, for the title.

Freshman Jessica McCarthy has been named the CAA Rookie of the Week after posting two goals and an assist in both Drexel wins last week. Last Wednesday, McCarthy recorded her first collegiate goal and assist in Drexel's 2-1 victory over Rider. She tied the game with an early score in the second half before setting up junior Meghan Plank for the game-winner. The Havertown, Pa. native also tallied the Dragons' first goal in the 2-1 double overtime win at Cornell on Sunday. Plank concluded the weekend with a goal and tied her career-high with two assists.

Drexel has eight players with two or more goals already this year. Senior co-captain Elise DiDonato leads the CAA with six assists and holds the most points with 12 for the Dragons. She is also tied for first in the league with three game-winning goals. Plank is first on the team with four goals. Defensively, junior goalkeeper Jantien Gunter has made eight saves in three out of the last four games combining for 59 total stops. Gunter leads the conference with a .776 save percentage and 1.84 goals against average.

Dartmouth extended its winning-streak to two games after defeating Brown, 4-3, and Holy Cross, 6-1, last weekend. The Big Green (3-4; 1-1) dropped their season opener to California, 4-2, before bouncing back with a 4-3 victory over UC Davis. The squad lost their following three contests to Northeastern, No. 6 Princeton and Bryant.

The Big Green's Ali Savage paces the offense with seven goals and five assists for a team-high 19 points. Maggie Scanlon is second in scoring with four goals, while Janine Leger has posted three assists. In the backfield, Olivia Quaglia has made two defensive saves. Goalkeeper Ellen Meyer has 40 stops on the season.
