Saint Joseph's van Grinsven Garners Weekly Honors

PHILADELPHIA Coming off a 24-point, 18-rebound performance in Saint Joseph’s 82-62 win over Richmond on Saturday, redshirt senior forward Chatilla van Grinsven (Helmond, Netherlands/Dr. Knippenberg College) has been named both Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week and College Sports Madness A-10 Player of the Week, organization officials announced on Monday.

Against the Spiders, van Grinsven proved to be a difference maker for the Hawks, hitting 10-of-17 from the floor, while knocking down four free throws to finish with a game-high 24 points. The 6-foot-3 starter also posted one of the best rebounding performances in SJU history, grabbing 18 boards to finish tied for the eighth most rebounds in a single game. Additionally, van Grinsven chipped in with a team-best three steals to go with an assist and a blocked shot.

van Grinsven shares the A-10 Co-player of the Week honors with Temple’s Victoria Macaulay. It is also the second time this season she has earned weekly accolades from both organizations.

The Hawks return to action this Thursday, January 17 at George Washington at 7 p.m.
