Saint Joseph's van Grinsven Named Big 5 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Averaging 21.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game last week, Saint Joseph's redshirt senior Chatilla van Grinsven was named Philadelphia Big 5 Women's Basketball Player of the Week, organization officials announced on Monday.

Facing Lafayette on Wednesday, van Grinsven dominated in the post, tallying a then season-high 19 points to go with 11 rebounds, three steals an assist and a blocked shot in the Hawks' 69-43 win over the Leopards. The 6-foot-3 forward followed with arguably her best game collegiately, scoring a career-high 24 points and adding 11 rebounds and a blocked shot against Villanova on Saturday. For the week, van Grinsven shot 51.4 percent from the floor (18-of-35), including 6-of-7 from the foul line (85.7 percent) and 1-of-2 from three-point range. The weekly award is the second one this season for van Grinsven.

The Hawks return December 20 when they face Central Michigan in the opening game of the Gator Classic. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
