Drexel Women's Soccer Defeats Temple, 1-0, For Third Straight Win

Ambler, Pa. - Sam Greenfield scored the game's only goal early in the second half as Drexel defeated Temple, 1-0. It was the third straight win for the Dragons. Drexel is off to its best start in school history with an impressive 6-1-1 record.

The teams were scoreless at the half, despite the Dragons controlling most of the action. The Dragons fired 10 shots on the Temple cage, seven which were turned aside by Owls' goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff. Temple had just three shots, none of which were on goal.

The Dragons broke the scoreless tie in the game's 72nd minute. Junior Christine Stevenson took a corner kick and lofted it towards the top of the box. Greenfield one-timed the shot from about 18 yards. Her shot, which was headed for the net, was deflected by an Owl defender in vain. She got a piece of it, but the ball deflected up into the net for the game-winner. eason. It proved to be the only goal of the match. Drexel's Eve Badana, who picked up her second straight shoutout, made four saves in the second half as Drexel extended its unbeaten streak to seven matches (6-0-1). The Dragons, who outshot the Owls, 20-10, closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule with their sixth win. 

The Dragons are off until next weekend when they play their first two Colonial Athletic Association contests. Drexel faces George Mason on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Vidas Field.
