PHILADELPHIA - La Salle volleyball was ousted by visiting Lafayette 2-3 (23-25, 25-15, 12-25, 25-22, 10-15) in a two hour slugfest Wednesday evening at Tom Gola Arena.

The Explorers began the match sluggish, finding themselves down 2-9 early in the first period. They clawed back to 21-22 before dropping three of the set's last four points. The blue and gold responded with a 25-15 second set victory behind four kills each from Kelly Perillo, Kelly Scanlon, and Samantha Tulskie. Lafayette breezed to a 12-25 third-set win but La Salle captured the fourth period 25-22 behind five more Tulskie kills. The Explorers led the deciding fifth set 7-4 but the Leopards rallied with an 11-4 run to close out the match.

Samantha Tulskie ended the day with 16 kills (.070) and 32 digs. The double-double performanced marked her fourth of the season. Kelly Scanlon recorded her second with 15 kills (.213) and 15 digs. Kelly Perillo added 11 kills (.200) of her own.

Breanna Mazalewski posted 21 digs while Rachel Melich and Michelle Healy finished with 27 and 17 assists, respectively.

"We need to do a better job with our momentum swings," Tulskie said. "We should get more comfortable as the season progress, so we're at full strength when we get to A-10's."

La Salle dropped to 1-7 on the season while Lafayette improved to 6-1.
