PHILADELPHIA – Helping the Saint Joseph's women's basketball team to two Atlantic 10 titles and a pair of Philadelphia Big 5 crowns, former Hawk standout Melissa Coursey '99 will be one of five members that will be inducted into the Philadelphia Big 5 Hall of Fame on February 21, officials announced on Thursday.

Helping Saint Joseph's to 84 wins between 1995-99, Coursey was a key contributor in the Hawks A-10 and Big 5 championship runs in 1997 and 1999. A four-year letterwinner, Coursey turned in her best season as a senior, earning First Team All-Big 5 honors and A-10 Championship MVP accolades.

One of the top perimeter players in SJU history, Coursey currently ranks fourth all-time in career three pointers (210) and is 18th overall in scoring (1,047 points). Earning All-Big 5 Second Team honors as a junior, she finished the year with 81 three pointers - fifth most in a single season - and set the single-game record with nine three pointers against both Penn and Rhode Island. She'd top her single-season best the following year, capping it with the second-most three pointers in a season with 84.

The Philadelphia Big 5 Hall of Fame Class of 2012 is composed of Coursey, Temple's Marc Jackson, Penn's Matt Maloney, La Salle's Kelly Greenberg and Jenn Beisel of Villano. The induction ceremony will begin 11:30 a.m. at The Palestra on February 21. For ticket information, please contact the Philadelphia Big 5 at 215-898-4747 or big5@philadelphiabig5.org.
