La Salle Volleyball Falls To Duquesne, 3-0

PITTSBURGH - The women's volleyball team fell to Duquesne, 3-0, on Friday evening at the A.J. Palumbo Center. Senior Jacquelyn Mitrovich had nine kills in 19 attempts and no errors to hit .474. She also led the Explorers with four blocks.

PITTSBURGH - The women's volleyball team fell to Duquesne, 3-0, on Friday evening at the A.J. Palumbo Center.

Senior Jacquelyn Mitrovich had nine kills in 19 attempts and no errors to hit .474.  She also led the Explorers with four blocks.

Senior Kourtney Clark had 25 assists, while defensively junior Samantha Tulskie added 16 digs.

The Explorers came out strong and played a close first set against the Dukes.  Trailing 22-17, La Salle brought the match within two at 23-21 after a kill by junior Kelly Scanlon.

However, two straight kills by Duquesne's Sara Scheirman gave the Dukes the 25-21 victory.

La Salle fell behind 22-15 in the second set after a four-point Dukes' rally and couldn't recover.

Duquesne took control early in the third set, winning 25-15.

For the Dukes, Allison Foschia had a match-high 17 kills, while Taylor Jones had 39 assists.

Next up for the Explorers will be a match on the road against Saint Louis on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
