PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – After having a successful day one of singles competition where all four players advanced, the Temple women's tennis team picked right back up on Sunday, taking flight championships at one, three and four. Yana Mavrina, Rebecca Breland and Maame Ama Osei earned titles in their respective flights at the SJU Invitational, hosted by Saint Joseph's University, on Sunday, October 2, 2011.

Mavrina made it to the championship match at flight one with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Delaware's Samantha Carnall in the quarterfinals on Sunday morning. The sophomore earned the title with another straight-set win, defeating Casey Robinson of the host team, 6-2, 7-6.

At the third flight, Breland handed Delaware's Kim Milla a 6-3, 6-0 defeat in the quarterfinal round to earn her spot in the title match. The rookie then took the title with a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set win over Olivia Heim, also of Delaware.

Osei gave TU its third singles title with her play at the fourth flight. The freshman opened play on Sunday with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Rhode Island's Karolina Wojciak. She then made quick work of Delaware's Amanda Halstrom in the title match with a 6-4, 6-1 victory.

Paola Calderon was the only Owl not advancing to the championship match. Marcela Rosales of Drexel cut Calderon's run at a title short in the quarterfinal round, 6-3, 6-3. Rosales went on to win the second flight.

Due to rain, all consolation brackets and doubles matches were called off, with only the top four singles flights matches playing through.

The Owls are back in action next weekend at the Hofstra Invitational, October 7-9, 2011.
