La Salle Volleyball's Clark and Scanlon Add Double-Doubles As Team Falls To Villanova, 3-0

PHILADELPHIA - The volleyball team dropped its first match of the Big 5 Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Palestra to Villanova, 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-14). Kelly Scanlon posted her second double-double of the season, adding 10 kills and 10 digs. Kourtney Clark also notched a double-double of 24 assists and a team-high 11 digs to go along with three aces. Samantha Tulskie added six kills.

PHILADELPHIA - The volleyball team dropped its first match of the Big 5 Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Palestra to Villanova, 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-14).

Kelly Scanlon posted her second double-double of the season, adding 10 kills and 10 digs.  Kourtney Clark also notched a double-double of 24 assists and a team-high 11 digs to go along with three aces.  Samantha Tulskie added six kills.

Clark started off the first set strong for the Explorers, serving up three aces and setting up Rachel Finkbeiner for a kill to put the squad ahead 4-0.

La Salle held the lead, but Villanova came charging back to tie the contest at 10-all.  The teams traded points until the Wildcats were able to gain a 22-18 edge and then closed out the contest, 25-19.

The Blue and Gold again held a small lead at the start of the second set, but couldn't hold on and fell by a score of 25-19 again.

In the final set, the Explorers struggled early and couldn't come back from an early 7-0 deficit, falling, 25-14.

The Wildcats' Morgan Petkovich had 17 kills, hitting .472.

The Explorers will return to action tomorrow with a 10:00 a.m. match against Temple and a 4:00 p.m. match against Penn.
