La Salle's Tom Baker Named To Preseason Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team

PHILADELPHIA  – La Salle freshman Tom Baker has been named to the Preseason Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team in voting conducted by the league's head coaches. Baker was a two-time Adidas/NSCAA All-American and Player of the Year by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Bucks County Courier Times, Daily Intelligencer, and Southeastern Pennsylvania Hall of Fame as a senior at Archbishop Wood.

Baker earned Catholic League MVP honors twice and was three-time First Team All-State and All-Southeastern Pennsylvania. He finished his high school career with 105 goals and 28 assists and set school records for goals in a career (105), goals in a season (42) and consecutive games with a goal (15).

He led Archbishop Wood to the District 12 championships in 2008, 2009 and 2010 as well as Philadelphia Catholic League and PIAA State finals in 2010. Baker played club ball with the YMS Thunder, leading the squad to the 2011 Jefferson Cup championship and Region 1 Southern Division Championship, as well as a ranking of number two in the nation. In 2010, he led the Thunder to the Disney Showcase finals in the top bracket and the EPYSA state title.

The Explorers were picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll. La Salle begins its season on August 26 at Rutgers.
