HARRISONBURG, Va. - Saint Joseph's rising junior pitcher Kyle Mullen (Berwyn, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) tossed a scoreless inning for the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League All-Stars on Monday night as the Ripken League won the 2011 Mid-Atlantic Classic over the Valley Baseball League, 6-3.

The righthander came on in relief in the second inning and faced four batters, striking out one and hitting another. The Ripken League took a 5-2 lead with a three-run sixth inning and held on for the victory, besting its rivals from the Valley League for the second year in a row.

Mullen, pitching for the Alexandria Aces, was tabbed for the All-Star squad after posting a 2-1 record with a sparkling 0.86 earned run average in 21.0 innings. He has struck out 14 batters against just four walks and has given up just 16 hits in his three starts.

The Hawk ace was named the Ripken League Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 20-26 after allowing just one hit and striking out five in seven innings as the Aces took down the Herndon Braves, 6-5, on June 23.

The Ripken League regular season slate concludes on Sunday, July 24.
