Temple’s Andrew Mason Named to the 2011 Men’s Golf Academic All-Conference Team

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Senior Andrew Mason was named to the 2011 Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Golf Academic All-Conference team.  The team recognized six student-athletes for their performance in the classroom and during competition on the links during the 2010-11 academic year.

Mason, a native of Huntingdon Valley, Pa. (Abington Friends), led the Owls with a 73.8 stroke average while earning all-conference honors in each of the past three seasons.  The Real Estate major also excelled in the classroom, being named to Temple’s Director’s Honor Roll (3.0 – 3.50 cumulative GPA) in each of the past three years while also garnering Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area honors in 2009.   The team captain was a two-time A-10 Golfer of the Week and he placed among the Top 10 in six invitationals this season, including a fifth place showing at the A-10 Championship.

Charlotte’s Andy Sajevic was named the A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year, as voted on by the league’s Sports Information Directors.  Joining Sajevic and Mason on this year’s academic team are Will Golden and Rafael Guerrero from Charlotte; Dayton’s Chris Woeste; and Xavier’s Herbert Day.
