Saint Joseph's Alex Veronis Named to Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis All-Conference Second Team

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Saint Joseph's sophomore Alex Veronis was named to the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis All-Conference Second Team, it was announced on Friday afternoon.

Coupled with women's tennis sophomore Casey Robinson's Second Team nod earlier this week, it is just the second time in program history that both a men's and women's tennis student-athlete have earned All-Conference accolades in the same season. Jarrett Chirico and Stephania Velazquez were both honored by the league in 2007.

Veronis, a native of Lancaster, Pa., spent the 2010-11 season playing in the top singles flight for the Hawks. He notched 10 dual-match wins in the top flight and, including invitational tournaments, tallied 14 singles victories for the season.

He also led the squad in doubles matches played, winning seven matches as part of the second-flight pairing. He ranked second overall in doubles wins with 10 total.

Saint Joseph's finished in eighth place at the Atlantic 10 Championship this season.
