Drexel Tennis Sweeps Morgan State In Dual Match at Drexel Armory

Philadelphia - Drexel's men's and women's tennis team came up with wins over Morgan State on a Sunday dual match at the Drexel Armory. The Drexel women (5-5) opened the day with a 7-0 triumph over the Bears. The Dragon men (5-3) closed out the day with a 6-1 win over Morgan State.

Philadelphia - Drexel's men's and women's tennis team came up with wins over Morgan State on a Sunday dual match at the Drexel Armory. The Drexel women (5-5) opened the day with a 7-0 triumph over the Bears. The Dragon men (5-3) closed out the day with a 6-1 win over Morgan State.

On the women's side, Drexel swept doubles play and won second through fifth singles in straight-set victories without losing a game. Gozde Unkaya face the toughest challenge of the day but pulled out a 6-3, 6-1 win at first singles. The Dragons have now won three straight sets in the spring season.

In men's play, Drexel won all three doubles matches to earn a team point. The Dragons faced stiff competition in singles play with three matches going to three sets. Nikoloz Kurdadze improved his team-leading singles reocrd with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Eric Ward at first singles. Manu Bajpai topped Kevon Charles in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. Mehdi Rhazali came back after losing his first set against Aaron Benjamin 6-4, to win the next two sets with little protest, 6-1, 6-2. Jeganathan Srinivasan sandwiched a 6-3 loss around a pair of 6-4 wins against Jannick Tash at fifth singles to help the Dragons clinch the victory.

Both teams will be in action this Tuesday when they travel to Towson to play their second CAA match of the spring against the Tigers.
