NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Saint Joseph's senior Maggie Mullaney and freshman Dan Barrus were honored by the Atlantic 10 on Monday for their performance on the tennis court this past week. Mullaney was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Performer of the Week, while Barrus was tabbed the Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week, conference officials announced.

Going a perfect 3-0 in her matches on the weekend, Mullaney posted a pair of wins at number-three singles and teamed with Casey Robinson for a victory against Lehigh at number-one doubles in the lone doubles competition for SJU on the week. Mullaney breezed past Fairfield's Kristen Lu, dropping just one set, and capped the week with a straight-sets, 6-4, 6-4, win over Liz Piscitelli at Lehigh on Sunday.

Barrus won four matches this week in singles and doubles play combined. He outlasted Joseph LaBate of La Salle, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 10-2 (STB) in the fifth singles flight as the Hawks flew by the Explorers, 7-0, on Thursday. On Saturday, Barrus was a 7-5, 6-4 winner over R.J. Mirabile of Fairfield at number-five singles; his point clinched SJU's comeback from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Stags, 4-3.

Barrus also paired with Alex Veronis to post wins at number-two doubles against both La Salle on Thursday and Fairfield on Sunday.

The weekly award is the first such honor for both Mullaney and Barrus.
