Saint Joseph's Women's Tennis Dominates Albany, 5-2

Saint Joseph's women's tennis team earned its first win of the the new year as the Hawks dominated Albany, 5-2, Friday evening at the Upper Dublin Sports Center. Saint Joseph's won all three doubles matches and four of six singles matches to improve to 2-5 on the year.


The Hawks claimed the match's first point as it swept all three doubles competitions. Senior Maggie Mullaney and sophomore Casey Robinson earned an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while junior Laura Matz and freshman Devi Jadeja posted an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Juniors Kate Walsh and Tara Dowd cruised to an 8-5 win at the third flight for the Hawks.


Switching to singles, Robinson turned in a stellar 6-1, 6-1 win at the top flight, while Jadeja wasted little time earning a 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 singles. Mullaney picked up the Hawks' third singles win with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles, while sophomore Nicole Esposito posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.


The Hawks return to action next Friday when they host Stony Brook.
