NEWPORT NEWS, VA -- For the second straight week, La Salle junior Austin Thomas has been named the Atlantic 10 men's swimming & diving Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference today.
Thomas broke the La Salle school record in the 100-fly while taking first in the event at the Frank Elm Super Splash over the weekend. His time of 49.55 betters the previous mark set by Wayne Snellgrove in 1992 (49.68).
The Cherry Hill, NJ native also notched a second-place finish in the 100-free (46.13) and took third in the 50-free (20.81), helping the Explorers win the invitational with a score of 1709.5.
Thomas anchored the 200-medley relay to a second-place finish and also swam on the second place 400-medley and third-place 200-free relay teams.
The Explorers will return to competition at the Bucknell Invitational on December 4th.
