Philly's Jordan shines in Breakout Challenge game

After missing their first game today due to summer classes, Rysheed Jordan and Miles Overton returned to help the Wildcats hold off a charging Classics on the second day of the Reebok Breakout Challenge at Philadelphia University.

Jordan, a junior guard from Vaux, hit four crucial foul shots in the final minute as the Wildcats won 82-76. With less than thirty seconds left, Jordan took an outlet pass down the right wing, drove down the center of the lane and drew a foul on his attempted layup that rolled around the rim before falling out. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 4-0 at the tournament.

The two friends were not aware that they would be teammates until arriving at the campus on Tuesday. Jordan said the "two Philly guys" would be tough to beat as he stressed there gritty play and hustle. The 6-foot-4 guard finished with 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

"We got a lot of style, we got a lot of heart," said Jordan. "We don't give up."

Overton finished with four points and three rebounds while playing the game with an ace bandage around his left knee, but he said the knee is not a problem.
