Look for Freddy Adu to make his Union debut for Saturday’s 8 p.m. matchup at PPL Park against FC Dallas.
The newest acquisition participated in his first practice with the team on Friday before being introduced to the media.
Team manager Peter Nowak wouldn’t say for certain whether Adu would play, but did add “he is ready to go.”
Nowak coached Adu at D.C. United and the Olympic team and both sides said they were happy to be reunited.
Terms of Adu’s contract were not disclosed but a source said he won’t be a designated player and that it is a multi-year deal with a club option.
Whether Adu plays midfield or forward will be sorted out, but look for him to bring a spark to a Union team that is 8-5-9 and faces a formidable task with a 12-6-6 FC Dallas squad.
