La Salle women's soccer unbeaten

The La Salle women's soccer team is nearing its first-ever national ranking as the Explorers have opened the season at 8-0-1. La Salle received the highest poll results in school history on Tuesday, receiving votes in the NSCAA Top 25 Coaches' Poll. The Explorers are also No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings.

"It's been a great start to the year for us," said head coach Paul Royal. "But now that the conference season is about to begin, I consider us as having zero wins and zero losses.  The season will start all over for us again on Friday and we have to keep the momentum rolling."

The Explorers are the only team in Division I that has yet to allow a goal in 2011 and have begun the season with nine consecutive shutouts.

La Salle begins the Atlantic 10 schedule with two city rivals paying a visit to McCarthy Stadium this weekend.  First up will be Temple on Friday night followed up by a match up against Saint Joseph's on Sunday afternoon.
