Former Phillies broadcaster Andy Musser died peacefully in his home in Wynnewood on Sunday, his family said.

Mr. Musser was 74. No cause of death was listed.

The native of Lemoyne, Pa., broadcast Phillies games for 26 years. At one time or another, Mr. Musser did play-by-play for every major sports team in Philadelphia except the Flyers.

A Syracuse graduate and Army veteran, he broadcast two World Series, two Super Bowls, two Masters Toumaments, and numerous football and basketball games on national networks.

After leaving the Phillies in 2001, Mr. Musser worked in private business.  He is survived by Eun Joo, his wife of 50 years; two children: Allan of Roswell, Ga., and Luanne Zimmerman of Lower Gwynedd, Pa., and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on at 11 a.m. January 31, in the Sanctuary of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, 625 Montgomery Ave., Bryn Mawr Pa. 19010.

Many of the voices from my youth are gone now. By Saam, Rich Ashburn, Harry Kalas, Gene Hart, Don Earl, Bill Campbell, Tom Brookshire, now Andy. Andy could any game in any sport

Andy was a great announcer, then he went to San Diego for awhile. WHen my brother and I heard he wascoming back to the Phillies in the late 70's we were excited. But he was different from the Musser who had been here before. Too laid back. I remember him calling a grandslam as if the batter just picked up ball four. Still, he was a classy guy, a gentleman.

Hold on rustypop58--Bill Campbell is still cookin, in fact he's still on 1060 once or twice a week. I remember BC as a kid when CAU was on the 2nd floor on Chestnut street. I remebe it was a Saturday morning live program for kids, and that was followed by Tom Moorehead at FIL in the Widner Building. Boy, you are sure old.

"He buried it. What a drive by Schmidt, unbelievable. He drilled that ball deep to the seats in left. What a wild scene in Montreal."

Andy didn't get all the publicity, but he was just as much a part of my memories of growing up a Phillies fan as anyone else.

Good voice, certainly the quiet straight man of that crew back then. Andy was a pro, a good broadcaster but I always came away a little bored when his innings were on air, if only because the other guys were so entertaining and listening to Andy was like waiting for paint to dry. Now with Wheels and McCarthy I don't know what poison to pick? Hair? or No hair?......it's a tossup. I love positive people and McCarthy certainly has a good voice for the job, but I've never seen a 35-40 yo golden retriever as an announcer and that's how I picture McCarthy, always positive, always upbeat, always bouncing around with exciting inflection in his voice, always wanting to jump in your lap and play a good game of fetch...and me always wishing he'd just sit in the corner and be quiet for awhile.......

Baseball announcers become like a member of the family because we listen to them for 162 games a year plus spring training. Andy Musser was no different than the other Phillies announcers. You hear his name and then you hear his voice describing an exciting play. Thanks for the memories.

I agree...maybe you can explain it to path525. They don't seem to understand that concept.

"Long drive...way back...way, way, back...and this ball is.....caught on the warning track." Andy wasn't very good with judging fly balls

Andy was good but was too much into stats. Always telling you some batter now has a 5 game hitting streak or other useless info. Harry and Richie were entertaining.
