Western New York Coach Promotes League

During a phone conversation with Western New York coach Aaran Lines about the forthcoming title game with Philly, he stressed the national implications of the clash.

Lines wants his Flash to finish Philly, of course; however, he's hoping that the success of both teams will have "soccer fans all over the U.S. interested in the game."

Lines added: "We've got an obligation to continue development of the [Women's Professional Soccer] league."

The recent World Cup tournament, in which U.S. women reached the final against Japan, boosted interest in women's soccer. Maybe a highly competitive final on April 27 in Rochester will keep it at a high level. - Bill Iezzi
