Fitness Myth #1: Muscle turns to fat if you stop exercising.
Fact: Muscle and fat are two different types of tissue. One does not become the other. When you stop exercising, your muscles shrink, or atrophy, so over time, the percent of body fat increases while muscle mass decreases.
