Ladies, if you’re looking for a great excuse to get together with your girls and celebrate health and fitness in Philly, look no further than Be Well Philly Boot Camp.

Back for its third year, Be Well Philly Boot Camp will be held on Saturday, June 7th at Drexel’s Recreation Center. 

Presented by Philadelphia Magazine and Independence Blue Cross, Be Well Boot Camp is an all-levels event focused on living a happy, healthy, inspired life.

Throughout the day, you can take part in spinning, barre, boot camp, dance classes, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing, Zumba and even rock climbing. You’ll also get the opportunity to sample products and get tips from over 25 of the best health-and-wellness focused brands. Cooking demos will show you how to make your very own nutritious meals on-the-go, gluten-free foods, and green juices.

Plus, Unite Fitness and Lithe Method will be taking you off campus on a run or walk and showing you how to turn your regular cardio into a cross-training workout. Even the area’s favorite running experts will be on hand to offer gait assessments for all.

Really, what more could a fit girl ask for?

Emily Leaman, Philadelphia Magazine’s health editor, is most looking forward to the revamped speakers portion of the event. In the past, they've hosted separate panel rooms for their presenters, but this year a new lounge will offer a more conversational and intimate vibe.

“Looking at this year’s event, I thought, If I was coming, what would be the most useful thing for me? I realized giving guests more of an opportunity to ask our panelists questions and make intimate connections was key," said Leaman. "So now the new speakers lounge will be kind of like sitting in your living room and having someone really smart to talk to.”

The speakers lounge will hold about 30-40 people, covering a wide range of topics like how to live mindfully, laugh yourself skinny, or run your best race ever.

Also new this year, Boot Camp will finish off with an “Empower Hour,” during which, Back On My Feet founder Anne Mahlum will share her emotional story about how running helped her overcome personal obstacles – and how she used that realization to do something similar for others.

And did I mention there’s food? Really awesome, healthy food. 

“I have to say pièce de résistance is that for $35, you’re getting breakfast, lunch and a healthy happy hour all included,” said Leaman.

Breakfast will be brought to you by Pure Fare, while lunch comes from HipCityVeg, and a healthy happy hour follows all the fun at Landmark Americana’s outdoor patio. 

“It’s really about empowerment for women,” said Leaman. “Wherever you are in your health and fitness journey, this event aims to help you set your goals and help you reach them.”
