What's Happening: Fox Trot 5K

This Saturday, Sly Fox Brewery in Pottstown will host the inaugural Fox Trot 5K to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

This Saturday, Sly Fox Brewery in Pottstown will host the inaugural Fox Trot 5K to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The race begins promptly at 10 a.m. from the brewery (located at 331 Circle of Progress Drive, Pottstown). Runners will race through residential areas of Pottstown before turning down Glasgow Street to head back to the finish—where the real fun begins.

Each finisher will receive a free Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal-winning Grisette beer, and will be greeted by a food truck festival. The race kicks off a day-long block party with lawn games, live music and 18+ beers on tap.

The cost for the event is $40, with 100 percent of proceeds going to Team in Training, whose endurance event activities benefit research funding for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). There are also a limited number of VIP entries available—for $100, twenty-five runners will not only participate in the race, but will receive a private tour of the Sly Fox Brewery with Head Brewmaster Brian O'Reilly.

Team in Training has gained a reputation as one of the more prominent competitive groups in various endurance events around the country. Whether a 5K, half-marathon, bike race or a hike, you'll likely see Team in Training members participating, all in the name of raising money to help defeat these diseases.

"It's meant to be a competitive event, with chip timing—but it's also meant to be a celebration," says race organizer Carl Ewald. "Summer is coming, and it's just a great time of year with perfect weather. Oh, and there will be beer!"

Registrations are being accepted at the race's website, with both 5K-only and VIP spots still available.
