Ring in the holidays with Philadelphia Runner

The weather outside while maybe not frightful just yet is starting to feel like winter, but that won’t keep diehard runners off the road. Philadelphia Runner wants to celebrate the holidays with you, doing what you love –running, of course. They are holding their Rudolph Run on Saturday, December 13 and Holiday Toy Drive on Saturday, December 20.

The weather outside while maybe not frightful just yet is starting to feel like winter, but that won't keep diehard runners off the road. Philadelphia Runner wants to celebrate the holidays with you, doing what you love –running, of course. They are holding their Rudolph Run on Saturday, December 13 and Holiday Toy Drive on Saturday, December 20.

With opening their Manayunk store soon, Philadelphia Runner hopes to meet their soon-to-be neighbors at their Rudolph Run on the 13th. Just a 3 mile fun run open to all ages, the run will start at Canal View Park (Main Street & Gay Street) at 9 a.m. The Manayunk Development Corporation will be there helping make things festive by giving out red noses and jingles bells. Feel free also to wear your favorite holiday costume, ugly sweater, or deck yourself out in lights.

Make sure you bring any canned goods or necessity items that you can for the corporation's "Meals & More" drive. For every item you donate, you will receive a ticket to enter a raffle to win a Manayunk restaurant prize pack (dinner for two at participating Manayunk restaurants).

The following Sunday, Philadelphia Runner will be at it again; this time with a Holiday Toy Drive Run to the Ronald McDonald House. This is a tough time of year for families with kids in the hospital and the Ronald McDonald House does what it can to make the holidays a little brighter for them. For the second year in a row, Philadelphia Runner is asking you to donate a gift from the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House's wish list. They are asking for gift cards so families can go out and get what they need (also easier for you to run with!).

Here is their list of suggested gift cards, please provide in increments of $25:

  1. MasterCard, Visa, Amex

  2. Fandango

  3. Best Buy

  4. Amazon

  5. Forever 21

  6. GameStop

  7. Fresh Grocer

  8. iTunes

  9. K-mart

  10. ShopRite

  11. Target

  12. WalMart

  13. Wawa

  14. Getty, Sunoco or Amoco gas cards

  15. Long distance phone cards

The run will start from Philadelphia Runner's Center City store (16th and Sansom Streets) at 10 a.m. The plan is to run from the store to the Ronald McDonald House in University City and back to the store, approximately 1.9 miles each way. Back at the store after the run there will be doughnuts and apple cider to warm you up. There is still plenty of time to join the festivities.
