Justin Timberlake may have ‘brought sexy back’ but according to Black Girls RUN!, it never should have left in the first place.

That’s why this Saturday morning, BGR! is presenting the Preserve The SexyTour, a one-day workshop designed for female runners of all levels to expand their knowledge of the activity.

The event takes place starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown (1201 Market Street). From 9-10:30 a.m., participants choose between two course sessions tracks—form focus, or body maintenance 101.

At 10:45 a.m., a 40-minute session of African dance is offered by Niche Faulkner, adjunct faculty member for the University of North Carolina-Charlotte Dance Department. The event concludes with the Black Girls RUN! pop-up boutique—your opportunity to check out new running apparel and accessories.

The educational program features invaluable educational information, including:

  • Running with proper biomechanics (running form) to increase running efficiency and decrease likelihood of injury
  • An understanding of the of the running cycle
  • Proper pre- and post- workout stretching and foam rolling techniques, to increase flexibility and range of motion
  • Myofacial compression techniques to reduce pain and enhance performance

Each lady should wear comfortable workout or running clothes, plus a pair of running shoes. Participants are asked to bring their own yoga mats, a small towel and a bottle of water. Foam rollers are also recommended; if you do not have your own, one can be purchased online or during the registration process.

Speaking of registration, it’s open until tomorrow (Friday) at blackgirlsrun.com. For only $25, you can spend Saturday morning increasing and expanding your knowledge and enjoyment of running.
