Get your groove on at Philly Dance Fitness

Baby, it is cold outside, but don’t worry, you can warm up this winter with some pulse beating dance moves at Philly Dance Fitness at one of their three locations – South Philly, Rittenhouse Square, and Midtown.

Deborah Hirsch, president of Philly Dance Fitness has a jam packed schedule prepared for January and February that includes new classes like Contemporary Ballet Technique class as well as favorites like Bollywood Blast, Cardio Pop and Pilates.

"In Contemporary Ballet technique classes, we use ballet as a foundation for going into modern dance moves like jazz and contemporary.  Together, they can make interesting, unique movements," Hirsch said.

She is also bringing back the "Taste of Philly Dance Fitness" Workshop where you can sample a bunch of different classes all in one 2 hour session.

"Taste of Philly Dance Fitness is a great way to try different classes and to see what you like without having to commit to a full class," she said.

And for all the lovers out there, you can sexify your dance repertoire with zumba and striptease moves or reconnect with your significant other on the ballroom dance floor during special Valentine's Day workshops. No prior experience is necessary.

"Our classes do not emphasize technique. We want you to sweat and have fun," said Hirsch.

January classes

Weeknight and weekend classes are being offered in different dance styles from Zumba to Impact Jazz to Hip-Hop to Tap Tonic. Classes are held at three different locations: Rittenhouse, South Philly and Midtown. Find the classes that best fit your schedule at phillydancefitness.com.

Regular group classes are $12, while ballet technique is $17. Small group and semi-private classes are $10.

Taste of Philly Dance Fitness workshops

Get a small taste of what Philly Dance Fitness has to offer with a fitness class cocktail made up of Zumba, ballet, hip-hop, jazz, Piloxing, Dance Party Boot Camp, BalletEXTREME, Power Jam Stretch and more. Tickets include two hours of instruction plus refreshments. Here are more of the details:

Strong & Sexy Dancing Valentines

Get yourself in the mood for Valentine's Day by practicing your sexy dance moves during Zumba and Striptease classes. The Friday night before Valentine's Day at 6 p.m. you can start the night off with a lot of booty-shaking and hip-grinding and then focus on sex toning with shoulder bridges and plank variations during striptease aerobics. Whether you want to spice things up for your valentine or just looking for a fun night out, this workshop will have you working up a sweat:

Friday, February 13 at 6 p.m. (Zumba) and 7 p.m. (Striptease Aerobics)

• For each class: $12 drop-in, one punch on a class card or FREE for members or, pay in advance to attend both for only $15!

Ballroom Romance Valentine's Day workshop

On Valentine's Day, Philly Dance Fitness is hosting an afternoon of dancing and treats. Make this Valentine's Day extra memorable by connecting with your sweetheart on the dance floor. Instructor Veronica Hudacek will lead you and your partner through some basic American style rumba and then teach you a short East Coast Swing routine. Afterwards, enjoy some champagne and dessert before heading out for the rest of your Valentine's Day plans. Here is what you need to know:

Saturday, February 14 from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

• Rittenhouse location: 1624 South St. (Major Moment Studio)

• $60 per couple or $35 per person. Save by purchasing early bird tickets in advance: $50/couple and $30/individuals through Feb. 7.
