Last year, Philadelphia runners added a new half marathon to their spring schedule. Glassboro-based CGI Racing hosted the 2014 inaugural Love Run and after selling out to 10,000 runners, they’re back this year on Sunday, March 29, 2015.
Registration for the 13.1-mile race opens at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 22. The opening day entry fee will be just $65 until midnight.
Plus, 150 lucky opening day registrants will win bibs for half-price. Every hour from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., CGI will draw the names of 25 entrants who have won a $32.50 entry fee. The winner’s names will be posted on the Love Run Facebook page at the top of each hour and will be refunded in about 5 days to reflect the discounted fee.
The largely flat course starts and finishes at Eakins Oval at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Runners will race through Center City to 6th Street and back up the Parkway, then run a loop along the Schuylkill River on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, cutting into West Fairmount Park near the Please Touch Museum, and head back on MLK Drive to the finish at the Art Museum.
Race organizers say the finish line festival will include a beer garden, plus Philly favorites like soft pretzels and Tastykakes. (Hey, after 13.1 miles, you’ve earned it!)
Love Run race weekend will begin with an athlete health expo on Friday, March 27. The race expo will run from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
