"Welcome to the Philadelphia Parks & Recreation's 36th edition of the Blue Cross Broad Street Run, you are in the race."

That's what the email read to the 40,000 runners selected in this year's Broad Street Run lottery. Winners were announced this morning around 5 a.m. so check your inbox or your bank account to see if you were charged the registration fee of $43 today. You can also search your name here to confirm your registration (or search which of your friends will be running with you!).

Didn't make the cut this year? You still have options.

Veteran runners – those who have run the race for 10 years, either consecutively or non-consecutively – can then apply through a guaranteed veteran entry. You have to see if you are selected through the lottery first though. You must submit your entry by March 1 to veterans@broadstreetrun.com.

You can also sign up as a charity runner for any of the following organizations:

American Cancer Society DeterminNation Program (50 spots left)
Fairmount Park Conservancy
Back On My Feet

Students Run Philly Style

Another option is the bib transfer program. Starting March 1, you can keep an eye out on the Broad Street Run's message board to find runners who are looking for others to take their place in the race. You can find the rules for bib transfer program here. Transfers will end on April 17.

The 36th annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run will take place on Sunday, May 3 at 8:30 a.m. The 10-mile race kicks off at Broad St. and W. Fisher Avenue and finishes approximately one-quarter mile inside the main gate of the Philadelphia Navy Yard at the southern end of Broad Street.

The Broad Street Run Expo will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (Hall D) on Friday, May 1 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday May 2 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
